Is the cave good for shy or timid cats?
It's built for them. The covered dome gives a hiding spot where they can watch the room but feel hidden. Most shy cats settle into a covered bed faster than an open one, the cover does the security work for you.
What's it made of?
100% cotton outer cover with a domed hood that holds its shape, a removable cushioned floor pad inside, and a small pom pom toy hanging at the entrance.
Can I move it from room to room?
Yes. It's light enough to pick up and reposition, kitchen during the day, bedroom at night, wherever your cat is hanging out.
Does it stay warm enough on cold nights?
The cotton cover holds body heat inside the dome, and the cushioned floor pad lifts your cat off cold floors. Most cats stay warmer in this than in an open bed in winter.
How do I clean it?
Lift out the floor pad and spot clean as needed. Wipe the cotton dome with a damp cloth. Air dry fully so the cotton keeps its shape and doesn't go limp.
Will the dome flatten over time?
With heavy daily use, the dome may soften and lean a little, it's cotton, not plastic. You can fluff the hood back up by hand. Most users get great shape retention through normal use.
How do I introduce my cat to a covered bed?
Set the cave in a warm, quiet corner away from foot traffic. Drop in a blanket that smells like home. The hanging pom pom catches the eye at the entrance. Give it a few days, cats claim covered spots on their own time.
