Will my cat actually use it instead of my rug?
Cats scratch flat textured surfaces by instinct. The hand woven plant fiber gives them the same satisfying drag as a rug, but lying flat on the floor where you want them to scratch. Set it where they already scratch, press their paws to it once, and most cats claim it within a few days.
How big is the mat?
16 in across (about 40 cm). Big enough for a full body stretch and a curl up nap, small enough to tuck next to a couch or under a coffee table.
What is it made of?
Hand woven natural plant fiber on the scratching surface, with a reinforced stitched binding around the edge so it holds its shape and doesn't fray at the rim.
Will it slide around on the floor?
The mat is weighted enough to stay put on most floors. On smooth hardwood, the stitched edge gives it grip. If your cat is a power scratcher and you want it locked in, a small rug pad underneath does the trick.
How do I clean it?
Shake or vacuum loose fiber as it sheds with use. Spot clean with a damp cloth and let it air dry fully before your cat uses it again. No machine wash.
How long will it last?
Natural fiber wears down where your cat scratches most, that's the point, better the mat than your couch. Most cats get many months to a year of daily use out of it before the weave starts to fray noticeably.

My girl took to this immediately. The round shape is the perfect size for her to curl up on after she scratches it a bit. Lies completely flat and never slides around.
Solid mat and my cat does use it daily, but I have a big Maine Coon and 40cm is a touch small for him to fully stretch out. Still scratches it happily though.
